~Abandonment~

When we feel abandoned, our instincts often tell us to project those feelings onto all our relationships. "My loved one rejected me. Everyone rejects me. God rejects me."
Sold as a slave by his own brothers, Joseph had to deal with complete abandonment by his family.
This trial in his life was all part of God's plan, however, to preserve Joseph's family from a future drought. We all face feelings of abandonment in some way at some time in life. But no matter how our human relationships fail us, God had promised to NEVER leave us.

{Genesis 37:25-28}
25 Then, just as they were sitting down to eat, they looked up and saw a caravan of camels in the distance coming toward them. It was a group of Ishmaelite traders taking a load of gum, balm, and aromatic resin from Gilead down to Egypt.
26 Judah said to his brothers, “What will we gain by killing our brother? We’d have to cover up the crime.
27 Instead of hurting him, let’s sell him to those Ishmaelite traders. After all, he is our brother—our own flesh and blood!” And his brothers agreed.
28 So when the Ishmaelites, who were Midianite traders, came by, Joseph’s brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to them for twenty pieces of silver. And the traders took him to Egypt.

{Genesis 45:9-11}
9 “Now hurry back to my father and tell him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me master over all the land of Egypt. So come down to me immediately! 10 You can live in the region of Goshen, where you can be near me with all your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and everything you own.
11 I will take care of you there, for there are still five years of famine ahead of us. Otherwise you, your household, and all your animals will starve.’”
